The Prospect Heights Middle School auditorium filled with applause on Nov. 3 as the Orange County Lions Club honored three young artists whose work captured this year’s international Peace Poster theme, “Together as One.”
For more than 30 years, Lions Clubs around the world have sponsored the Peace Poster contest, inviting students to express their vision of peace through art. The program encourages children to think deeply about unity, compassion and global understanding—then communicate those ideas through creativity and color.
This year’s local winners were announced during a brief afternoon ceremony at the school.
First place went to Alison Mathews, who received a $100 prize. Second place was awarded to Levi Hoover, earning $75, and third place went to Hailey Wharton, who received $50.
Lions Club members said the annual contest remains one of their most meaningful youth programs because it gives students a platform to reflect the world they hope to build.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
