Historic Germanna has received a $10,000 grant through the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative, in partnership with Yamaha Rightwaters, to support public access and sustainable maintenance at Siegen Forest. The forest includes more than seven miles of free public trails along the Rapidan River and Germanna Ford, which serves as the only public river boat launch in Orange County.
Founded in 1956, Historic Germanna is marking its 70th anniversary in 2026. The nonprofit organization has long provided no cost outdoor recreation opportunities while managing and preserving the region’s natural and cultural resources.
The Siegen Forest trail system and the Germanna Ford boat launch offer year round access for hiking, paddling, wildlife observation, and environmental education for residents and visitors.
In addition to the grant funding, Historic Germanna received a Yamaha UMax Rally utility vehicle from Village Motorsports in Unionville, Virginia. The vehicle will support trail and riverfront maintenance efforts, including trash removal from bear resistant containers, transportation of tools and supplies, and general upkeep across the forest and launch area.
“As we celebrate our 70th year, this grant allows us to continue what we’ve been doing for decades, caring for these special places so our community can walk the trails, enjoy the river, and connect with our rich history,” said Jennifer Hurst-Wender, Executive Director of Historic Germanna. “Partnerships like Yamaha’s make it possible to keep these shared spaces open, safe, and free for people today and for generations to come.”
Historic Germanna expressed appreciation to Yamaha and Village Motorsports for their support of public access, conservation, and outdoor recreation in Orange County.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
