When Elizabeth “Lizze” Lawwill, DNP, FNP-BC, dreamed up her new practice, she wasn’t just thinking about Botox or lab tests. She was thinking about comfort. About confidence. About creating a space in small-town Virginia where people could come as they are, feel heard, and leave a little lighter than when they walked in.
That vision became Simply Wellness & Aesthetics, which opened on Main Street in Gordonsville this spring. It’s part clinic, part beauty studio, part neighborhood lifeline—a blend of modern medicine and everyday self-care.
“Sometimes it’s Botox, sometimes it’s vitamins, sometimes it’s just sitting down to talk,” Lawwill says. “Wellness is not a luxury. Everybody deserves to feel better—inside and out.”
Lawwill’s story began in Albemarle County, where she grew up before pursuing nursing at Piedmont Virginia Community College. After earning her advanced degrees at Old Dominion University and the University of Virginia, she spent over a decade at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, working in cardiac, neurology, and hospital medicine. Later, she shifted into primary care, where she found her calling in listening deeply to patients.
But it was the pandemic that made her rethink what healthcare could look like. “During COVID, we did all the right things, but sometimes we still couldn’t get the results we wanted,” she recalls. “That’s when I realized I wanted to create something different—where people felt safe, seen, and supported.”
For many in Louisa and Orange counties, a trip to the doctor can mean driving to Charlottesville or Fredericksburg. Simply Wellness & Aesthetics offers another option: a local space for both everyday health and confidence-boosting care.
The menu is wide-ranging: strep, flu, and COVID testing; weight loss and nutrition programs; vitamin therapies; and aesthetic treatments like Botox. “I’m not here to replace your primary doctor,” Lawwill says. “I’m here to supplement, to give people access when they need it, and to spend the time that isn’t always possible in a traditional setting.”
Patients self-schedule online, and Lawwill is even considering walk-in Sundays to make visits easier. “People tell me, ‘Thank you, I didn’t want to drive to Charlottesville,’” she says. “That’s what keeps me going.”
Weight loss and nutrition support are among the most popular services, but Lawwill is quick to point out there’s no quick fix. “It’s not magic—you still have to do your part,” she says. Her approach is holistic: small, achievable goals supported by clinical expertise and nutrition guidance.
She also believes aesthetics play a role in wellness. “When people feel better about how they look, they carry themselves differently,” she says. “It’s about confidence, not vanity.”
More than anything, Lawwill wants her practice to feel like a place where people can take a breath and focus on themselves. She’s already introduced “Wellness Wednesdays” for busy moms, offering a chance to recharge in the middle of a hectic week.
“I don’t want insurance to be a barrier,” she adds. “I’d rather sit with someone for an hour, figure out what’s really going on, and help them feel better. That’s what this practice is about.”
For a community that often has to look to bigger cities for specialized care, Simply Wellness & Aesthetics brings something new—and something personal.
“True wellness is about how you feel inside and out,” Lawwill says. “When we feel our best, it shows in our confidence, our energy, and even the way we carry ourselves.”
And in Gordonsville, thanks to Lizze Lawwill, that kind of care is now closer to home. Simply Wellness is located at 400 W Gordon Ave, Suite B in Gordonsville.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
